Successful Weight Management Program in a Corporate Environment

Track 1: Obesity Management Programs in Employer Settings

Fiserv Inc. conducted a health risk assessment in the fall of 2004 that revealed less than 20 percent of their employees and spouses were meeting recommended physical activity levels and two-thirds were overweight or obese, posing potentially large cost consequences for the company. In October 2005, a 4,000 employee division of Fiserv launched a pilot of the "Healthy You Fitness Challenge" for employees. This presentation will focus on quantifying the cost of obesity in a population; essential elements of an effective population-based weight management program; and key outcomes measurements of the program.
